A five-vehicle pileup on the West Side of Las Vegas resulted in two people being sent to local hospitals, according to a recent report. The chain reaction began when two vehicles collided at West Lake Mead and North Rainbow Boulevard. Three other vehicles crashed into the first two before drivers were able to stop. It is unclear at this point exactly what precipitated the original accident, but investigators are looking into the matter. The two injury victims are expected to recover.
Multi-Car Accidents Uncommon But Can Be Deadly
Multi-car accidents are not as common as single and two-car crashes, but they do occur, often on high-speed corridors, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Multi-car collisions are often the result of a chain reaction: two drivers initially collide, then other drivers are unable to stop in time to avoid hitting the initial crash vehicles. This is much more common on freeways and places where high speeds are the norm than on surface streets.
Whether several cars or just two are involved in the crash, the consequences for victims can be deadly. Every year, about 32,800 people are killed in traffic accidents and millions more are injured. It is very important for the victims of car crashes to have access to quality health care, particularly if they have suffered traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord damage or other catastrophic injuries.
How Can I Seek Help For My Car Accident Injuries?
Those who have been injured in a car crash must often take responsibility for pursuing compensation for their medical care and other expenses. Unfortunately, it is very common for insurance companies to deny legitimate expenses related to injuries caused by their own insured drivers. Just because a driver has insurance does not mean that the company will willingly pay a victim’s expenses. In some cases, injured victims must seek help in recovering money from the at-fault party.
The experienced personal injury attorneys at Bernstein & Poisson in Las Vegas are ready to help victims of car accidents and other personal injury accidents recover the money they deserve. We work with those who have been injured by someone else’s negligence to hold the at-fault party and the insurance company responsible for full payment.
