Pedestrian Accidents in Las Vegas: Highest Numbers
Pedestrian accidents involve the highest number of fatalities of any type of Las Vegas traffic crash, according to reports from the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. Unlike many other cities in which the occupants of passenger vehicles account for the highest number of fatalities, in Las Vegas pedestrians seem to be at the most risk.
According to recent statistics, there have been 22 pedestrian deaths in Las Vegas in the period covering January 1, 2014, to October 21, 2014. In contrast, there have been no bicycle deaths this year, 13 driver deaths, 17 motorcycle deaths and 10 passenger deaths.
What Should I Do If I Am Injured In A Pedestrian Crash?
If you are the victim of a pedestrian crash, you should be very concerned about your rights. Many drivers try to blame pedestrians for their injuries, but the fact of the matter is that, except in a few cases, drivers are usually responsible for avoiding pedestrian crashes according to Nevada law. The law usually favors pedestrians because their chances of being injured in a crash are so much greater than the driver’s or passengers in a vehicle.
Therefore, you have rights in a pedestrian crash. However, if you have been struck by a vehicle and injured, it may be up to you to protect your rights against the driver and insurance companies that may try to blame you for the accident or deny your claim for damages.
