According to police, a 17-year-old dead is following a vehicle crash into a Las Vegas funeral home. Police stated that the driver of a blue sedan was speeding and jumped a curb, causing it to crash into a funeral home. Police are currently attempting to determine if the passenger who was killed, Deshawn Rabon, was wearing his seatbelt. Witnesses say that three others who were in the car fled the scene after the crash. A pedestrian, also injured, was taken to the hospital.
Speeding and Personal Injury
Speeding is considered the third leading contributor to crashes, right behind distracted driving and impaired driving. Statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also reveal that 39 percent of male drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 were speeding at the time of their fatal crash. Sadly, 13,000 lives are lost each year due to speeding, a number that is far too high.
It is easy to speed. While there are posted speed limit signs, many drivers fail to follow them and go above the speed limit. These limits are imposed to ensure all drivers and passengers remain safe on the road. When these limits are ignored, crashes can occur which often result in serious injuries and even death.
If you have been involved in a crash caused by a speeding driver, you may have grounds for a personal injury suit. Those who suffer injuries and incur high medical bills, along with pain and suffering, may be able to seek compensation from the at-fault driver if that person acted negligently and caused the accident. Speeding is breaking the law and may be considered a negligent action. Because of this, a victim can often prove negligence and gain compensation for injuries.
