The 4th of July Can Be Deadly – Avoid Drinking & Driving

Posted by: Jack Bernstein

While Americans gear up to celebrate our 4th of July, it is important to remember that you should exercise extra caution when driving on the roads in Las Vegas. Drunk driving is far too common over a holiday like the 4th of July. With Nevada passing laws that legalize recreational marijuana starting July 1st, 2017, you can expect an increase in impaired drivers this year. Whether it is alcohol, marijuana, or other controlled substances, when someone is impaired and gets behind the wheel of a car, it can be deadly.

According to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an estimated 40 percent of all motor vehicle traffic fatalities occurring during the Independence Day weekend will involve alcohol.

Over 34 million Americans will travel by vehicle this Independence Day, meaning there are more people on the roads than usual. If you are going to celebrate the 4th of July by drinking, be sure to have a designated driver, call a taxi, or use a ride sharing service. Those who do not obey the law and decide to drive while intoxicated could not only be arrested, but also severely injure or even kill innocent people.

What If I Am Injured By a Drunk Driver?

If you are injured in a car accident caused by a drunk driver, it is likely you will face high medical bills as well as pain and suffering during and even after your recovery. The person responsible for your injuries should be held responsible to pay your damages.
