Posted by: Jack Bernstein

According to reports, a woman has suffered life-threatening injuries after being involved in a boat crash on Lake Mead.

Lake Mead National Recreation Area officials responded to an alert about a boat crash at Sandy Beach around 11:00 a.m. They found that one boat had been hit from behind by another boat. One woman was seriously injured and taken by helicopter to University Medical Center. A man was also injured, but was treated at the scene. A third occupant and the driver of the other boat were not injured. Officials continue to investigate the crash.

Boating Accidents and Personal Injury

If you have been injured while on a boat, it is important to know your legal rights. Passengers who are injured on a boat may have grounds to seek compensation if their injuries resulted from another person’s negligence.

Negligence is a failure to act with reasonable care. For example, if one boat driver was speeding or was impaired and crashed into another boat, that person was acting in a negligent way which led to injuries. The victims might have grounds for seeking compensation from the at-fault and negligent boat captain.

In order to win a personal injury suit, you and your lawyer must prove that someone failed to act with reasonable care which resulted in your injuries. If you are able to prove this, you may be rewarded compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering and lost income. Boating personal injury claims are, in some ways, similar to other vehicle accident lawsuits. When someone acts negligently, it does not matter what type of vehicle they are operating. If their negligent actions results in injuries, that person may be held responsible.

How a Personal Injury Attorney Can Help
